CRAGs“”A bit skeptical but willing to give it a try. |
carbonprofileDo I have to admit it? This year I've turned into a carbon pig! My research takes me away from Toronto quite often, but this year has been quite the exception. Generally I take the bus or train where I can (Sudbury or Montreal, for example) but have already racked up a few long drives to northwestern Quebec and New Brunswick. I also flew to Cameroon last month for, ironically, a climate change and forest conference. And I'll be traveling to Calgary/Vancouver for more conferences this month and one later-on in Sweden. Since last year I have started to buy credits to offset flights from Planet Air, which sources credits from the CDM Gold Standard. This arguably the best offsetter out there and I don't really trust the others. Not quite sure what to about driving. I always figure a long drive is better than a flight. But other than that I ride my bike everywhere in Toronto when the weather permits, TTC the rest of the time. I'm a member of AutoShare but don't use it very often. I live in a big ugly apartment building which probably is relatively decent in terms of carbon footprint, especially if I were to get the patio door fixed better. Other than that I work as a PhD student, which means I sit on my butt and read & write. I try and eat vegetarian, but fall off the horse often--especially if Czech cuisine is involved. Is this too much information?! expertiseExpertise in regulatory framework of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol as well as bioenergy policy. |
